Bike Shop open house - December 3rd, 2011, 12 to 4pm.

Stop by the Wayside Christian Mission Shelter downtown at Jefferson and Jackson if you're interested in learning more about Wayside Wheels, the Mission's own bike shop.

They repair bikes for people who may not be able to afford traditional bike shop fees. Volunteer mechanics teach riders how to do minor repairs such as fixing a flat or adjusting brakes, and encourage budding mechanics to learn and even help out at the shop. It is open at various times throughout the week.

Dependable bikes are sold at a nominal price or work-credit to clients of the shelter as they become available. Rules of the road and safe bike riding tips are reviewed by those using the bike shop's services and helmets are available.

You may be able to help by donating a usable bike or volunteer some time at the shop. You'll meet interesting people and help Louisvillians to be self-sufficient with affordable transportation.
